Summer Pool Tips

Summertime is the time when you want to just jump into your pool to cool off and enjoy the water!  So far this summer the days have been very hot, so here are just a few tips to keep your swimming pool nice and clear for healthy swimming the whole summer long.    If you use a chlorine floater for your chlorine tablets,do notremove it from the pool.  Many times it is forgotten to be returned to the pool, and in this hot weather, a pool will turn on you very quickly.    If you live at the beach, have the children make sure they wash all the sand out of their bathing suits before they get into the swimming pool, as noone wants to go to the beach in the swimming pool!   This is more vital for Hot Tubs.  Sand in Hot Tubs can actually cause motor failures, and if you get too much sand you will be replacing a motor in your Hot Tub.  Rinsing off for the pool, or taking a shower before entering a Hot Tub is always a good idea for any time of the year.  Remember that water temperatures in Hot Tubs are very warm and this will act as your bath and wash off (and into the Hot Tub) whatever it is that you have on, e.g. suntan lotions, etc.  This will clog up filters quickly if there is enough of it.     Keep your pool filled above the  water "fill" line on the skimmer, during these hot months to avoid a motor burning up.  During this time when the sun is beating down on these pools, the water is evaporating very quickly, so watch your water levels. When adding water recheck chlorine!    So just remember to swim responsibly and enjoy your pool season to its max.  You do not want your pool shut down for costly repairs during these hot months.  But watch those chemical levels for the sun just loves to eat chlorine.  And remember......No chlorine = Green swimming pool.  ...read more
