Dont know what other buyers problem's were but I myself was truly pleased with my experience at both locations . Went to the location on 321A first and was treated with upmost respect . Tried a few mattress there and was told about the other store on 321 that had more choices . The young lady at this store was well knowledged on all the mattress they have and answered all our questions and we did NOT feel pressured at all . She even called her babysitter so she could stay open later . WHAT other store does this ??? We tried out several mattress and she even let us try diffrent pillows until we were satisified . We purchased a mattress and two pillows . I havent felt this rested in YEARS !!!! and my back dosent hurt anymore . Thank you Sleep Shop !!!! I HAVE TOLD EVERYONE come and see you if they need a mattress . VERY VERY PLEASED with customer service and ABSOLUTLY HAPPY with our mattress . From Hickory,NC . ...read more

The Sleep Shop's return policy is unacceptable in today's internet market. On returns of internet orders, The Sleep Shop charges the customer the shipping and a 10% restocking fee. For example, in my case, for a $139.00 purchase of sheets that were not as high quality as described, I received a refund of $114.52. This is a penalty of $24.48 for returning goods which were lesser quality than described. This is an extraordinary penalty for a customer to pay when most competitive e-tailers would have made a full return. While The Sleep Shop does explain its return policy in its "fine print," this policy is not reasonable compared to that of other e-tailers The Sleep Shop is competing with. For these reasons, I do not recommend The Sleep Shop for on-line purchases. ...read more

How to shop for a mattress

DOchoose a comfortable store.  If you are at a great mattress store, you will feel like you can "make yourself at home."  You should be able to lie down on different mattress sets and feel comfortable enough to put your feet up.  A sales person should be available if you have questions, but he or she should not make you feel pressured.  DOdress comfortably.  Ladies: don't wear a mini-skirt, and don't spend lots of time on your make-up or hair.   To really test a mattress set, you're going to have to lie down and get comfortable. Gentlemen: don't wear shorts that expose you when you lie down.  (Mattress sales people don't want to see this any more than you want to show it.)  Do wear comfortable, loose-fitting garments.   DOshop with your spouse or partner.  It is always a good idea to have both sleepers involved in a mattress purchase.  If you arebothgoing to be sleeping on it, then youbothshould be involved in making the decision.  DOlet the mattress sales person guide you by showing you mattress sets in your comfort zone.  Ask questions.     DON'Tfeel silly or embarrassed about trying out a mattress on a showroom sales floor.  Often customers feel shy about lying down on a mattress in a store.  Don't waste one second feeling this way.  There is no other way for you to try a mattress set.  As mattress sales people, we see people lying down all day long.  We don't think a thing about it.  Honest, we don't.  DON'Ttry to shop for a mattress when you are in a hurry.  Plan on spending at least 2 - 3 hours looking for the right mattress for you.  ...read more
