I gave it a one because the organization of the class is really fun, and would have given it a zero for the poor treatment we received here. Unfortunately, one of the instructors handled my three-year-old in an inappropriate way on several occasions and the owner mistreated us as well: The instructor did the following: 1.) Used a loud voice then forcefully kicked a large foam prop immediately after telling my son to sit down; 2.) Used a pushing and flicking motion with his hand on my son's shoulders when asking him to join the rest of the group instead of gently guiding; 3.) Yanked on my son's hood to get his attention when he was walking into the gym with shoes on, causing the zipped up sweater to pull around his neck. As one could imagine, to witness this type of treatment at a facility that is supposed to encourage the well being and personal growth of its students was a complete shock. When I initially spoke to the owner he was more than willing to listen to my concerns and told me that this staff member would receive disciplinary action including a financial one. He assured me that The Little Gym does not promote this type of treatment towards the young children who attend there. He then told me he would call me the next day to inform me of the disciplinary action that would take place. The next day when he called me, his tone changed completely from helpful to offensive. I was told that I was searching for a "pound of flesh" and that my family and I should look elsewhere for a gymnastics class. When I asked what type of action the staff member would receive he said he would get extra training. When I asked about the disciplinary action, he said none would be given. This was a complete surprise since he assured me the day before that this staff member would not "receive a slap on the hand" (his words). I would not recommend this particular facility to anyone especially since the owner is unwilling to issue proper action towards the staff member who clearly is handling children in an aggressive manner. My only hope that that this has been a wake up call for this staff member and that he changes his approach with the children in his care. I have been an Adult Member at Proehlific Park for over a year now and have no interest in ever leaving! For what they charge per month - you can't beat it. \t\n\t\nThe facilities are first class and the offering is incredible. I am able to use all of the gyms amenities...weight room, indoor turf field, free batting cages, basketball courts, cardio equipment - plus outside I have played on both the baseball fields and soccer fields. \t\n\t\nThe adult leagues I have joined were well organized. The other members have been very nice and I have actually made some great friends during my time at Proehlific Park! ...read more
