My family attended West Avenue the entire time we lived in Gastonia (1956-1962), and I have only good, strong memories of it. David Blue was the Pastor then, and to my family he seemed a perfect example of knowledge, religious belief, compassion, and humor, with a bit of a temper when needed. While we were members, the Church caught fire one night. My dad wore a leg brace because of a WWII injury, but I still remember the late night call and Daddy pulling on his brace over his pajamas and then grabbing the first pair of pants he could find, and running out with barely a world. I think all the men of the church did that to the best of their abilities. The wives came along with comfort and nourishment as soon as they could find people who'd take care of the children. When I was last there, probably 15 years ago, West Avenue still had the most beautiful sanctuary in which I have ever had the honor and pleasure of worshiping - a place of true meditation, reflection, and fellowship. ...read more

We attended DCC 9/23/12 what a blessing. We felt loved and welcomed. The Pastor is very anointed, the Spirit of the Lord is truly at work there. Salvations, healings what a wonderful service.
