Fred Astaire Dance Studio

Dancing at fads durham has become my weekly therapy. It's fantastic to walk into the studio, at a time that fits my busy schedule, be greeted by smiling faces, and let the stress of the day fall away. I feel so lucky to have found this studio.\t\n\t\nI can remember watching ballroom dancing on television as a child, and wondering to myself, "How can I learn to do that?" Currently, I've been with this studio for more than three years, have far exceeded my original dance goals, and now enjoy dancing at local ballroom competitions. \t\n\t\nMy instructor, Yuriy, is simply the best. He has been able to teach me solid technique and always keeps it fun at the same time. In fact, all the instructors there are friendly, professional, and are just super-fun people! I'm completely hooked on ballroom dancing because of this studio, and know that it will be a continuing part of my life for fun, exercise, and relaxation. ...read more

Fred Astaire Dance Studio

I drive from Wake Forest to the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Durham to take dance lessons. I began taking lessons locally and realized I wanted to improve my level of dance and maybe even enter competitions. I had heard about the Durham studio instructors so I called and explained my interest in becoming a better dancer. I have found the quality of instruction to be truly unbelievable and I feel so fortunate to be able to follow my dream of dancing. I has changed my life… dancing makes me feel ageless and graceful and it is a pleasure to be in the company of other students who feel the same. ...read more

Carmike Wynnsong 15

First, I would say this theater is as clean as most of those that are part of one of the big cineplex chains. The theater was renovated a few years ago when stadium seating became the norm, and the cineplex was split into smaller venues. I go there frequently and have enjoyed many movies there. Only rarely is the temperature in the theater too hot or cold. But since Southpoint opened I have been disappointed with the efficiency at the concession stands. Too many times on weekends in the evening it takes too long to buy refreshments. This is because there are too few people manning the concessions. Many times there is someone (or 2) standing around watching. One would think that management would plan on having more people available to man the concessions between 7 and 7:30 and 9 and 9:30, when most of the evening movies begin. If I were the manager I would fill in behind the counter myself during those times if I was not allowed to hire more employees. There's no excuse for having to stand in line for 10-15 minutes when there are only 2 people in front of you. I'm sure this has cost the theater many customers. At the prices we pay for movies these days you can't blame the customer for going elsewhere. If that problem was fixed I would never go to any other theater unless the Wynnsong was not screening the movie I wished to see. ...read more
