Client Named Finalist in 2008 Medical Weblog Awards!

WEBWIRE – Sunday, January 18, 2009 We all know when we’ve stumbled onto a good blog. Like a favorite TV show, it’s one of your daily or weekly rituals and you can’t wait for the next installment in the saga. While there are tons of interesting topics out there, perhaps none are more interesting than an insider’s look at one of the US’s most important industries – health care. That said, recognition of any kind in this industry is sure to be coveted by the masses. This month that recognition comes in the form of the 2008 Medical Weblog wards. Top medical bloggers educate us and reach out to lift our awareness for certain causes all year long. In the end, however, only one can be named the winner.... Read the rest of the press release here _____________________________________________________________________________________ We're happy to have Dr. Kevin Pho as a client, and support his quest to be named the top medical blog of 2008. His insight into the world of health care is intriguing, as he holds nothing back. I first discovered KevinMD.com back in 2004, right around election time. I have since been following to get an idea of how the medical community view's politics and health care plans promoted by the candidates, and was absolutely thrilled when he became a client! His Open Letter to Barack Obama and John McCain really brought some great issues to light, and helped me to realize that even though I'm not a health care professional, I can help in the cause to grow the primary care industry. So I'm working to get local undergrads in the medical field of study to take a closer look at primary care. There are definitely some myths to be busted and a skewed understanding of what primary care is. One thing I've come to discover is that primary care is absolutely necessary for the citizens of this country. It is preventative and much less expensive than out-of-the-blue emergency room visits. I think part of the issue is that med students end up accumulating so much debt throughout their school years that they tend to go for the higher-paying, specialized positions. I see two main problems with this - it creates an industry of doctors who are mainly out for money (with little passion for what specialized field they do get into) and that what was once a "specialty" isn't any more. It's now more common to be a neurosurgeon than it is to be a primary care practitioner, despite how specialized that facet used to be. One way to fix this shortage of professionals would be to work out a way (in Government) to support med school students financially and help ease the burden of student loans and debt. Other countries do it, and as a result have a more thriving medical industry than ours. If we eliminate some of the debt, it's possible that we can attract more incoming professionals who would have a true interest in and passion for preventative, regular & family care. I recommend checking out his blog from time to time. It's enlightening and even a bit racy at times! If you find some good things (or even enough to make you think), consider voting for him in the 2008 Medical Weblog Awards. Voting ends tonight @ midnight, so perhaps give him a read over your Sunday afternoon coffee or tea! ...read more

New Virtual Tour Provider Has Officially Launched in Durham, NC!

We’re excited to announce that Virtual Sidekick, LLC. has officially launched in Durham, North Carolina! Virtual Sidekick is the Triangle’s newest provider of 360° video-based virtual tours, photography, floor plan solutions and more for real estate and business!Virtual Sidekick prides itself on the highest quality presentation for homes, commercial properties and institutions online, offering High Definition® video-based tours, High Resolution digital photography, interactive upgrades and floor plans, 2D and 3D floor plans and home models and marketing services to meet the needs of today’s professionals. Whether you have a home to sell, a new facility that’s been built, just completed renovations, or need a unique way to showcase your work, Virtual Sidekick has a solution for you!We realize there have been virtual tour providers in the Triangle for years. I’ve been asked several times how we expect to be able to compete with those providers who are already well-known in the community. To put it simply, we don’t focus on competition, we focus on offering the most innovative marketing solutions to real estate agents and other professionals. Video is becoming the new medium for marketing online, and we want area professionals to be on the cutting edge of their industries! Our HD® video-based virtual tours offer a unique and more true-to-life presentation of any property or item, allowing viewers to see true depth, dimension and detail. Traditional virtual tours (which are usually a series of images stitched together to form a panorama and then animated using a video application such as Java) can often warp or distort the image or scene being viewed, so that viewers cannot get a clear understanding of size or dimension within a room or area. Photos can also be edited to appear brighter and more colorful, and to conceal impurities or damage. Video shows your property in it’s truest light, as it really is, so that potential buyers aren’t met with any surprises once they’ve decided to view the home in person. In terms of marketing, our virtual tours are more portable, versatile and easily distributed across the Web, being compatible with nearly all websites and blogs! They can be linked to from ads and even viewed on mobile devices! Simply syndicating a video once online can allow it to be accessed and picked up by thousands of other video-based sites, such as Truveo, AOL Video and more! Now when the more Internet-savvy buyers perform searches for property online, they have a variety of places and media to view your property with! However, we also realize that many viewers like to have control of their viewing experience. For this reason, we’re offering the more traditional virtual tours as an upgrade, but with a twist! Our panorama-based virtual tours are shot in High Definition®, just like our video-based tours, and allow viewers to control the viewing speed and direction, zoom in and out (with HD capability), move up and down within the viewing window (if zoomed in, so anything above or below the field of view can also be seen) and even view additional photos, tours and information interactively with hotspot technology! When a viewer clicks on a hotspot, they’ll be able to view property information, additional photos or in many cases, even more through your property to the next room!We also understand that Realtors and other professionals have a need for floor plans, whether actual physical images or whether being viewed online! Virtual Sidekick is pleased to offer measurements and 2D & 3D floor plans as an add-on to any virtual tour! Our floor plans can be anything from simple 2D images to use with flyers, brochures or MLS listings, to 3D interactive floor plan models! Floor plans can be as basic or as detailed as you want! Measurements are taken at the time of filming, so all services are completed at one time!We feel these services will help to move area professionals and businesses into the age of technology, by allowing your potential customers, clients, visitors or patients the opportunity to view your properties or facilities interactively before they arrive! This gives potential buyers more control, and often results in more serious inquiries and faster sales! We look forward to serving the Durham, Chapel Hill and Carrboro areas of the Triangle, and are even planning for expansion later this year! To learn more about all of the services offered, visit online atwww.virtual-sidekick.com!
