The biggest schools here are Stone Mountain School and Polk County Middle School. One of the best places to visit when you are in Chimney Rock is Veranda Restaurant, one of the best restaurants in the area. The climax of Michael Mann's film version of James Fenimore Cooper's The Last of the Mohicans was filmed on one of the pathways across from Chimney Rock State Park.
