I am so impressed with all the Safety Tub does for my back and rest of my body. The Safety Tub is beautifully designed for comfort and use, and I really feel it should be a "must have" in anyone's home. The water experience is wonderful, therapuetic, relaxing and a grand way to end your day, a couple hours before bedtime. The pain disappeared. A "mini miracle" now sits in my bathroom and I love it!!! M. A. Baykowski ...read more

We finished the installation of the tub on March 11th. I've sent a couple of pictures. Note that the tub is recessed into the floor by about 5 1/2 inches, reducing the step over to less than 3 inches--very helpful with the MS. My physical therapist helped me to figure out how to maneuver in and out of the tub. It is wonderful!!! M.W. ...read more

The Benefits of a Walk in Tub

We all enjoy taking a bath as it helps us to relax and soothe away the troubles and stresses of everyday life. However as we grow older it is not so easy to climb in and out of a bath tub and falls often occur due to the slippery surface whilst trying to get out of the bath. Many opt for a shower instead, but this means they miss out on the luxury of a bath.  There is now an alternative to a conventional bath tub that is more practical for the elderly and anyone else that has difficulty with mobility. Awalk in bathtub is a more practical option. It is easier to get in and out of and help isn’t always required thus many people using them can retain their independence. A walk in bath tub can also be beneficial to the caregiver as it prevents them from straining which happens when lifting a person in and out of a regular bathtub. Awalk in bath tubis similar to a regular bath although it provides many more benefits. There is a door in the side panel that enables you to walk into it and as it is on the same level as the bathroom floor there is no step to negotiate. It is a very simple idea but with fantastic benefits. Walk in bath tubs are often higher too and are sealed to prevent water from escaping once the bath has been filled. Once you are in the tub you close the door to fill the bath and sit on the built-in bench while you wait for the bath to fill with water. If you are thinking of buying a walk in bath tub then it is a good idea to visit a showroom and check them out for yourself. How easy is the door to open? Is the seat large enough and comfortable? Will it fit into your bathroom? These are just some of the factors you need to take into consideration before making a purchase. Doors can open in or out, from left to right and vise versa. Walk in tubs come with a range of features. For anyone with difficulty getting around the point of a walk in bath tub is to make movement easier and to prevent accidents. Walk in tubs have slip resistant flooring and safety bars can be inserted for pulling yourself up and aid balance. There is also a water temperature gauge fitted to prevent scalding. With some tubs it is even possible to have a shower head fitted so you can sit and shower if you don’t want to bathe, or therapeutic jets fitted into the sides of the bath for a gentle body massage that can help those with aching muscles and joints. If you have arthritis, muscle cramps or inflammation problems, varicose veins or suffer from bad circulation, a jet massage can help soothe them. Walk in bath tubs don’t only have to be for the elderly or people with mobility problems, they are useful for everyone in the family. They can also be beneficial if you have young children as they provide no-slip surfaces. Better quality walk in bath tubs are manufactured fromacrylicwhich is easy to clean and maintain. There are a range of colours, so it is simple to find a design and colour to fit in with the rest of your décor. They are also easy to fit as they can be purchased in standard sizes, just remove the old bath tub and have a plumber fit the new one into the existing space. ...read more

How Much Do Walk in Tubs Cost?

As we all know it's oftentimes like pulling teeth to get a hard and fast figure when it comes to pricing on walk in tubs. How many of you have called to get pricing, only to find out you have to make an appointment and meet with a pushy salesperson in order to get a simple price? Well let me tell you that you don't have to jump through hoops with all walk in tub companies to find out how much a walk in tub is going to cost you. There are reputable walk in tub manufacturer's that make high quality tubs and are more than willing to give you pricing without the pushy sales tactics. Generally speaking, you should be able to find a high quality walk in tub with a warranty and many options for somewhere between $3000 and $8000. However realistically when you search around you can find walk in tubs as cheap as $1500 to as expensive as $30,000. Why is that you ask? That's because the cost of a walk in tub depends on many factors. First, there are so many different companies that sell walk in tubs. You can purchase a walk in tub from a retailer, reseller, third-party dealer, or directly with the manufacturer. If you deal directly with the manufacturer you may get a lower priced tub simply because you are cutting out the middle man. However oftentimes you can get specials or discounts if you work with a dealer who gets low pricing because they buy in bulk. Another thing that affects pricing is the quality of the construction of the tub and materials used. There are manufacturers of both low-end walk in tubs and high-end walk in tubs and many in between. Some chose to use lower quality materials like fiberglass in order to offer a lower priced tub while others chose to use high quality materials such as acrylic therefore they are priced slightly higher. Fiberglass is a cheaper material, however it won’t last as long or be as durable as one made of acrylic so you need to decide what is more important to you, cost or quality. Other things that affect the price are the name brand, models, sizes, options and features. As you do your research you will find that most walk in tubs offer some basic features such as the ability to shower in your walk in tub, a non-slip floor, a walk-in door, handrail, chair-height seat, etc. Some consider those to be features that come standard with their tub while others consider those to be additional options which you pay more for to add onto a base model or stripped model tub. You shouldn't have any trouble getting a pricing sheet that details basic features versus add-on options. If you have trouble getting these breakdowns, you may want to reconsider who you are buying from. There are some brands that offer additional luxury options such as a heater to maintain your tubs water temperature, premium faucets and other fixtures for added beauty, fast drain to empty your tub quickly, chromatherapy light and color therapy, aromatherapy, massage options like jet and/or air bubbles and more. Depending on your situation, needs and desires some of these options may be worth paying more for. Some brands are more well-known than others. Sometimes it can be in your best interest to buy a brand you already know offers high quality products, however that isn't always the case so be sure to consider your options. In your search you will find that walk in tubs come in many size options. Most fit into a standard tub space and some manufacturer's offer an extension kit to ensure a perfect fit. In general the bigger the tub, the more you’re going to pay.  So as you can see there are many things that affect the cost of walk in tubs. Now that you know what those things are you can make a more informed decision. Good luck in your search for the walk in tub for you.
