Getting the Best Deal on Copy Paper
If you stop and think about the one office supply item that almost every office or company needs, its copy or printer paper. According to statistical data from the AMEX Small Business group, it's also the leader in monthly office supply spending for most businesses as well. That being said, it's typically worthwhile to shop around for the best deal on printer paper. Here are a few suggestions when paper shopping: #1 - Buy in bulk - The more you can buy at one time usually equates to a better price. If you have the space and/or the budget, you can save a substantial amount of money buying in bulk. #2 - Ask for a discount - If you are buying in bulk, consider asking for a discount, even if one isn't advertised. The worst a company or customer service person can say is no. #3 - Utilize coupons - We email out coupons on a regular basis and approximately 15% of all the people receiving the coupons purchase items without ever using the coupon. Take advantage of these opportunities when they come along. #4 - Get free shipping - Although this suggestion really only helps if you are buying online, getting free shipping can save quite a bit of money on paper purchases. Shipments of paper can be heavy and the shipping costs can add up quickly. My favorite brand and model of copy paper: My hands down favorite for bulk copy paper is the Hammermill CopyPlus line of paper, which can be found here. The price is excellent as this brand comes with a jam-free guarantee not typically found with lower priced paper. If the paper jams during use, Hammermill will send you a free replacement ream. ...read more

Using Calendars and Planners for Time Management
Aside from losing weight, getting organized is one the top New Years resolutions. Why? Because organization improves productivity, performance, and time management. The best place to get started in terms of organization involves a calendar or organizer. Regardless of your schedule or lifestyle, there are calendar and organizer tools that will help you organize your life. With a little discipline, these tools can have a dramatic impact on your productivity. Let's take a second to define the different types of organizer and calendar models and how they can help you: Calendars/planners - Calendars and planners come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. They can be as small as a pocket model or as large as a wall model. However, calendars are only effective for organizational purposes if they are utilized. Dates, times, appointments all have to be recorded in the calendar for it to serve it's purpose. My personal favorite is a desktop calendar as it's in the location where I spend most of my time: at my desk. I record everything on that calendar and it's ready whenever I need it. A quick glance tells me when and where I need to be somewhere. Like many other organizational items, most calendars can be refilled from year to year. Telephone Books - Also called Address books, these are specifically designed to store contact information including name, address, telephone, e-mail, etc. Most calendars don't have this capability, so address books work well for this purpose. I prefer address books over an all in one type calendar as an address book gives me the ability to record a substantial amount of information about each contact. Appointment books - If your life involves a substantial number of meetings or appointments, you might be suited for an appointment or meeting book. Slightly different from a calendar or planner, appointment books are designed to record a number of events or meetings in a single day, single week, or single month. You can select the time period (daily, weekly, monthly) that best suits your schedule. Appointment books and meeting books are generally refillable, so you can stick with a style or model that you like. The first step to becoming organized involves taking command of your schedule. Any of the organizational products above will help in that area. Once you've taken this step, you can move on to other areas of your life that need to be organized.
