On the evening of Oct. 2, 2013, Ranger Dollinger of the Shulls Mill Rd. Station, Blowing Rock, NC reunited us with our dog. I had called the Watauga Sheriff's office while my husband was out searching for our Shelie, Ty. They called me back to say that Animal Control had reported a lost dog found on the parkway by a ranger. Ranger Dollinger took our dog to Animal Medical in Boone, NC \r\n \r\nWe are so grateful for Ranger Dollinger's kind help, the help of Anita Gomez at Animal Control who coordinated with Ranger Dollinger, and the Watauga Sheriff's Department. I am happy to report that Ty is fine. I absolutely LOVE The Fig Leaf. They have the most absolutely adorable clothing! Not a whole lot of jewelry, but their clothes are so unique I can't find anywhere else. They seem to have a great sense of humor with their little household items that they sell, and the ladies that work there are always so nice and helpful. Their younger college girls are actually extremely pleasant too, which is rare to find where I'm from... I shop here every year I go to Blowing Rock with my family! This place has beautiful stuff, but be sure when you make a purchase because they will not issue a refund if you are dissatisfied. Most of their products are Chinese made and can be found elsewhere, so before buying anything expensive there, check online and you will most likely find it for much less money. I have personally spent thousands of dollars there over the years but when I recently tried to make a return on some lights that I found for half the price at Home Depot, they refused to let me return the lights. The view was amazing, especially for winter in the mountains, which is why my husband and I finally decided to stop and try the food. We went on a Sunday and there was live music which was a plus. Our waitress, I think her name was Ashley, was great; she was honest about menu suggestions, quick and efficient, and immediately returned with anything we requested. She was conversational and knowledgable about local shops and attractions.\t\nMy husband ordered fish and chips which was incredibly greasy and somewhat bland. No salt or seasoning was used, just oil. I got a chicken and spinach burrito which was served in a cold tortilla; the food inside was as bland as the flour tortilla and it hardly resembled a burrito. \t\nThe inside of the place could use some updating (the floors are uneven and somewhat disgusting) but our waitress let us know the building is almost a hundred years old so its understandable.\t\nAs we were leaving an older guy with white hair, who I think was a manager or owner, was seemingly drunk and berating his employees at the front desk/entrance; it was extremely tacky to do in front of customers. I couldn't help feeling sorry for the employees.
