Blue Ridge Premier Medicine is billed as concierge medicine, where the doctors have "time and attention" for patient care. Hint: when such a "relationship based" practice cancels your first appointment - a meet and greet to assess fit scheduled several weeks in advance - at the last minute....let's just say I can get that type of attention for free (vs. their $2700 annual fee) elsewhere in the medical system. Wow. I would love to give 0 stars (not an option) but I can rationalize the one star for the very effective screening process, although perhaps not in the way I expected. On the plus side, the receptionist was very sorry I "felt that way" when I declined to reschedule the appointment. Note: she was not sorry they wasted my time or that she waited until the last minute to cancel a several week old appointment for which I drove 4 hours into town....she seemed sorry only that I found this treatment unacceptable. Last note: my boyfriend and I just moved to Asheville and he is currently a (new) patient at the practice. So this is actually how they treat _referrals_ of existing patients. The assistant who got me ready for the exam was a gem and so was the very nice lady at the desk I couldn't be happier with them.The Doctor was another matter entirely. He was incredibly rude and it felt like he may even have been going out of his way to make me uncomfortable at times. I was so dissatisfied I went to a more expensive place in the mall to buy my glasses after the exam because I didn't what him to get any more of my money.The prescription was an improvement over my old one so I wont give him a zero but I strongly recommend going elsewhere. ...read more

This is the worst medical office in the city of Asheville. They do not care about their patients whatsoever. These are the most greedy doctor's in the Asheville area. They simply do not care about their patients and are only concerned with billing you. God forbid you ever have any outstanding balance with them, they will sue you faster than you can blink your eye. They never figured out what was wrong with my stomach after a ton of tests. Disabled or on medicaid? they will treat you like a second class citizen. This a review of 'Our Family Doctor'; 'Ravenscroft' no longer exists. Any review of 'Ravenscroft' prior to September of 2011 should be removed as it is not the same practice and the staff has completely changed, with the exception of three doctors and maybe one office staffer. My husband and I have been satisfied, happy patients of 'Ravenscroft' and Dr. Jodi Schwab since 2002. Our impression of the new staff was that they do not care about their patients so please take any testimonial you read on their website with a grain of salt and think long and hard before you decide to put your health and the health of your loved ones at risk by choosing 'Our Family Doctor'. I have had two major surgeries this year and desperately needed a refill on a medication that you cannot stop taking without serious side effects but their incredibly rude receptionist gave my husband the brush off and treated him like scum and basically told him to get lost and then proceeded to slam the glass window at the front desk in his face! We have always been excellent patients, have BCBSNC, and are kind and courteous when dealing with their office and medical staff. I was never told I needed an appointment to receive a refill for an anti-seizure medication and never needed one when it was 'Ravenscroft'. Had I known I was out and needed an appointment I would have scheduled one before the holidays but we were not informed of their new protocol. Also, I was recovering from a difficult surgery and could barely shower, let alone make it out of the house, but I would have done my best because they NEEDLESSLY put me into severe, life threatening withdrawal symptoms and almost on the brink of suicide. My husband and I are middle aged professionals and both of their receptionists made him feel like a criminal. We saw Dr. Schwab when she returned from vacation and there was no record that we had ever been in inquiring about the refill and the horrid receptionist NEVER offered to make me an appointment with Dr. Polanski who was seeing Dr. Schwab's patients and was the on call doctor that day. My husband was the ONLY person in the waiting room and was there for 25 minutes and saw no one enter or exit the building- the staff simply could not be bothered to see me because it was the day after Christmas and they wanted to go home. Mind you, he was there an hour and fifteen minutes before they closed and explained that one of THEIR patients (of NINE YEARS) was SUFFERING AND NEEDED MEDICAL CARE! We left TWO messages with a medical assistant and our calls were not returned and the prescription was not filled. They also ignore any fax, electronic or traditional, which is INEXCUSABLE and NEGLIGENT! Please look elsewhere when choosing a primary care doctor for you or your loved ones. The practice is not the same and I will never step foot in their offices again and have to deal with the rudest people I have ever encountered in the medical community. We have sang their praises to many, many people and now feel horribly guilty because the new practice is nothing like 'Ravenscroft' and all of the warmth and compassion and excellent patient care of the past is GONE! I had previously written several 5 star reviews of 'Ravenscroft' and wish I could delete them. I do not want to promote the new practice in any way and will tell all of my family and friends who are patients there to abandon ship. My internist unfortunately scheduled an appointment for me at asheville gastroenterology and the experience was an unpleasant eye-opener. The young woman enterologist never looked me in the eye and just sat with her profile to me, checking off info on a sheet of paper and scheduling a barrage of UNNECESSARY tests. She reminded me of an order taker at a fast food restaurant like McDonald's. It was apparent she didn't care about me or my medical issues, but simply regarded me as ""income source""--since I'm well insured. After about twenty minutes of non eye contact, and no wish to hear anything from me...---but eager to run up a big tab---I got up and said, thanks, I don't need your help. They have scores of young women hanging around ready to schedule ""expensive"" tests at a nearby radiology center. I've been feeling wonderful ever since. Avoid this group like the plague. These guys are terrific. I've being going to MAHEC now for over one year. And my teeth are white and sparkly and well taken care of thanks to them. Oddly, I found them in the phone book. Lucky me.
