Utica is a part of the Hinds County region/metro area of Mississippi. Major attractions include Henry S Jacobs Camp and Vicksburg National Military Park. Each year in the fall season there is the Annual Civil War Re-enactment. Among the biggest companies in Utica are URJ Henry S Jacobs Camp and Utica Baptist Church. The biggest schools here are Utica Elementary School and Utica High School. One of the best places to visit when you are in Utica is Ameristar Casino Hotel.

In such a tiny town you wouldn't expect to find so much welcome, friendship and general feeling of good will as in Utica. Cane Ridge Antiques owner Kevin Horne is one of the prime vendors of this good will. Beyond this his shop and workmanship are not to be compared. And he is sort of a unique sort himself. Rather than a Watch Dog, his is a Watch Cat. Old, lovable and purrfect cat will come to greet you, help you make your selections and browsing more enjoyable. Or he will just go to sleep and leave you on your own. He is, after all, a cat. The "back room" always has fresh coffee and one or two locals come to pass the time of day, get Kevin up on current events. I love shopping at Cane Ridge Antiques. I am proud and honored to have attended Utica Junior College (Hinds Community College) from 1972-74. The many instructors who encouraged and motivated me and other students are to be commended.
