Schomburg Heating & Cooling Inc

4.0

By Ron L at Customer Lob

My experience with Schomburg Heating & Cooling was overall fairly decent although there were some hiccups along the way. Me & my wife had a furnace installed 7 years about and with it came a warranty regarding any service to be done in the future if needed be. We had the young man from the company come out and he realized that the motor for the furnance had got out on the coldest day of the year. He claimed to not have the part needed for the furnace initially in the shop but upon further searching he found it, along with some pushing and question asking regarding it from us. Finally he found it and everything went smooth from there. Ron L. ...read more

It's time to clean your gutters!

After all the leaves have fallen, now is the time to get up on the roof and clean out the gutters and downspouts.   It is very important to do this every year, because debris can build up quickly, faster if you have trees next to your house.  If the water can not flow to the down spouts, it will just flow over the sides of the guttering and leave a mess or a wet basement below.  All of that debris also weighs a lot when it is full of water after a rain.  All of that weight can cause your gutters to pull away from the house. HOW TO CLEAN YOUR GUTTERING Cleaning your gutters is not a difficult job.  It requires a ladder, a bucket, a garden hose, and the absence of a fear of heights.  You can either work from the roof or the ladder depending on the pitch of the roof and your comfort level.  Simply grab a handful of leaves and put them in the bucket.  Repeat until finished.  If you are not concerned about making a mess, you can throw the debris on the ground.  Sometimes, there is so much that you have no choice but to put it in a bucket or else your yard would need raking.  Inspect your downspouts while you are doing this.  Most of the time, the downspouts are only covered and removing the leaves in the gutter will clear them just fine.  After you clear the gutter, look down into the downspout for any debris build up.  If it's there you will need to run some water down and flush it out.  When you are running the water down, wait until you the blockage at the top come out at the bottom.  You can also run water down the guttering to get the gutters extra clean. As you can see, cleaning guttering is not a difficult job, but it can be messy.  If this is something you would rather not do, please give me a call and I can give you a free estimate for your house.
