12th Annual Mardi Gras Pub Crawl Press Release

Budweiser Presents the World’s Largest Mardi Gras Pub Crawl celebrating 12 Years at Lake of the Ozarks!      LAKE OF THE OZARKS, MO—The 12 Anniversary for the Lake of the Ozarks Mardi Gras Pub Crawl, 4:00 p.m. – 1:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, is not only expected to be the largest ever held at the Lake—it’s also likely to be the largest in the world. “According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the largest pub crawl had 2,800 participants. Last year, we sold 5,700+ wristbands for the Lake of the Ozarks Mardi Gras Pub Crawl, and this year we’re hoping to attract 6,500 people,” says event organizer- Jeff Carroll. “So even though our pub crawl isn’t certified by Guinness, it’s got to be the world’s largest.” During the Pub Crawl, visitors will safely ride 22 busses to 20 participating bars and restaurants. Six smaller shuttle busses also will transport “crawlers” from participating lodging properties, starting at 3:00 p.m.  Throughout the evening, buses will make a continuous loop along Highway 54, Osage Beach Parkway and Business Highway 54, stopping at each venue. Restaurant stops will offer great food from Ozarks barbecue to Chicago-style pizza, prime rib and seafood to Mexican favorites and more. The bars will offer live rock, blues and country music, as well as DJ’s and karaoke. Visitors will be able to collect plenty of Mardi Gras beads and souvenirs along the way. Wristbands, which allow wearers to enter all 20 restaurants and board the busses, will cost $7.00 and will be available at participating bars and restaurants. Wristbands must be purchased in order to enter all of the participating establishments.  Participants must be 21 years old to purchase wristbands. However, Carroll notes, “Even if you are wearing a wristband, you’ll still have to show your ID at Pub Crawl bars and restaurants.” He adds, on Pub Crawl evening, you must wear a wristband to be allowed in to participating establishments. Collectible Pub Crawl t-shirts will be available for $20. “A lot of people wear these and check off the places they’ve visited, which are listed on the back of the shirt,” Carroll says.     To assure everyone has a fun and safe experience, a security guard will be aboard every bus. “Participating bars and restaurants will have extra security for the night and a fire marshal at the door to make sure they don’t exceed the legal capacity,” Carroll says. He adds, “With the help of local police and Liquor Control plus area lodging properties, we work hard to make sure the Pub Crawl is a success for everyone involved. Plus it’s a great value,” Carroll notes. “For just $7 you’ve paid the cover charge to 20 bars and restaurants, and you can let someone else do the driving.” Participating lodging properties will offer special rates for Pub Crawl weekend. “Many people make it a weekend at the Lake and enjoy the area’s dining, entertainment, shopping, lodging deals and the serene beauty of the Lake in winter,” Carroll says. Be Sun-wise With Your Eyes

For Immediate Release Contact: Schmidt&Associates at 573-552-8177 The same sun rays that lead to skin cancer and premature aging of the skin are just as bad for your eyes, according to Dr. Brian Eveland, Therapeutic Optometrist. The culprit is Ultraviolet (UV) Rays and because May is National UV Awareness Month, Dr. Eveland encourages everyone to be “Sun-wise With Your Eyes”  “Unprotected exposure to UV radiation can cause photokeratitis, which is basically a sunburn of the eyes marked by painful, red eyes and a sensitivity to light,” Dr. Eveland said. “The symptoms usually clear up quickly and cause no permanent damage to the eyes.” However, Dr. Eveland added, growing evidence suggests that long-term May Is UV Awareness Month: Be Sun-wise With Your Eyesexposure to UV rays can lead to macular degeneration and cataracts, serious eye conditions that can cause vision impairment or loss.”  Dr. Eveland suggests the following to protect the eyes from serious damage: • If at all possible, limit your time in the sun. • Wear a wide-brimmed hat • Wear sunglasses that filter 99% of UV rays  “Don’t forget the children, “Dr. Eveland said. “Children are especially susceptible to eye damage from the sun. The lenses in their eyes do not block as much UV radiation as in adults. Follow the same precautions as you would for an adult, but be sure to choose sunglasses that fit their smaller faces, have impact-resistant lenses, and have lenses large enough to shield the entire eye.”  Dr. Eveland owns and practices at Family Eyecare located in Camdenton, Lake Ozark, Osage Beach and Laurie and is a member of Vision Source, the nation’s number one network of private practice optometrists. Founded in 1991, The Vision Source network includes more than 2,400 offices in all 50 states and in Canada. ...read more
