Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri is located in south central Missouri within Pulaski County. The town has good access and is just two miles south of Interstate 44. As of the 2000 census, the town had 13,667 residents. The town is named in honor of Major General Leonard Wood, who was awarded the Medal of Honor. The nearby Fort Leonard Wood military base totals almost 63,000 acres and serves as a training facility for the United States Army.
