Many years ago, i was a 27-year-old mom with a one-year-old child. My husband and I had sold our home and had some cash to invest. I saw that Edward Jones had very high interest rates for their CD's, so I went to Mr. Holmes office. I was dressed neatly, but I was obviously very young. When I told Mr. Holmes that I wanted to invest in a CD, he smiled, then said, "Well, you'll want to open a money market because the minimum investment is $500. Our CD's require a minimum of $15,000." I wanted to walk out, but the desire to show him that I had more than enough money to invest in a CD was greater. When the CD renewed, I moved my business elsewhere.
