Additional French classes coming to Normandale

French classes seem to be very popular lately in our department and have been for the past couple of years. Students enjoy coming to our campus to take these 6-week courses. Generally we get good ratings for these courses, but one thing students have been asking for is more classes to continue learning French. Up to this point we have provided only a Level 1 and a Level 2 course, however we were finally able to schedule additional classes which will be taught by the same instructor, who is described as "really nice, patient, energetic, and enthusiastic". We are excited about this new addition to our French classes and even more excited to see people learning a new language. Feel free to check out the upcoming schedule. Applying for the MN Health IT Training Program at Normandale

Normandale Continuing Education is currently accepting applications into the MN HIT training program which is scheduled to start on October 1, 2012. The program is designed to give students the knowledge, skills and critical thinking to work as an HIT professional within healthcare, IT, insurance, pharmacy, medical device, allied health and other related industries that use health information systems for electronic medical records and health information exchange. The training has been developed with local and regional industry experts to ensure relevancy to the workplace. This 6-month program is ideal for individuals with previous healthcare, HIM, information technology, or quality/process improvement education and work experience. The program comes complete with career support training and resources. All training is facilitated in an online learning environment. There will be some on-site activities/events during the program; however, no on-site event is required to successfully complete the training. The curriculum focuses on job-specific training for roles that support the implementation of electronic health record systems. To enroll in the program students need to have a background in either Healthcare or IT as the training is intense. Since the program is offered through Continuing Education, students do not need to apply directly to the college. To apply, fill out the online application athttps://mnhealthit.com(make sure to read through the Program Description document for detailed information). After applying, students should receive a response within about 2 weeks. Currently 85 percent of the students who have completed the program during its first year have found jobs. Also, since the program has been developed through a Federal grant, financial stipends of $1500 are available to help cover the costs of the training (total cost is $2000).
