Mill City Heating & Cooling

5.0

By bthompson1828

I remolded my basement last November and hired Mill City Heating & Cooling to replace the old boiler and radiator heating system and convert to a central forced air heating and air conditioning system. Dean the installer met with me for the estimate and went over the furnace, a/c and duct work layout. He answered my questions clearly and I felt very comfortable with his knowledge. I received another three quotes and hired Mill City not just because they were among the best priced but I felt more confident they would do the best job. Dean and his crew had the job done in three days, on budget and everything went as he and I discussed at the estimate. They were on time, polite, courteous and cleaned up after themselves. I would defiantly hire and recompensed Dean and his team at Mill City Heating & Cooling to my family and friends. ...read more

Dual Wall Insulated Spiral Pipe

The primary objective of HVAC design is a balanced system that efficiently delivers the needed volume of conditioned air to all of the building spaces.  However, there are additional requirements to consider, such as thermal efficiency, noise reduction and condensation control. These requirements can significantly influence long-term cost and productivity – and ultimately the cost-of-ownership.  The most effective method of meeting these requirements is to insulate ductwork. One of the best ways to insulate ductwork is to use Dual Wall insulated spiral pipe.  Double Wall (also called Dual Wall) insulated spiral pipe offers exceptional noise and thermal control and is the most reliable, durable and permanent method of insulating spiral pipe. Dual wall insulated spiral pipe is comprised of two concentric spiral pipes of different diameters with the intervening space filled with insulation (usually fiberglass).  It is virtually airtight, and the insulation is protected from the three most common types of failure: job site damage, erosion due to high pressure, turbulent airflows and condensation. Since the insulation is factory installed, time-consuming and labor-intensive installation at the job site is eliminated.  Additional benefits include increased fire safety due to the non-combustible nature of the metal duct and the option of mineral wool insulation, which will withstand temperatures to 1000 degrees Fahrenheit Almost all of the fittings available for single wall are available for dual wall spiral pipe, providing the same design flexibility as a single wall system.  For many light-commercial applications, efficient and economical slip-joint installation is available. For high pressure and larger diameter applications, several proven flange connection methods are available. If you’d like more information about Dual Wall Spiral Pipe and how it can benefit your HVAC design, contact us at Spiral Manufacturing at 1-800-426-3643 or info@spiralfmfg.com. ...read more

MAINTENANCE ON HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM MONEY

Here in Minnesota, your Heating and air conditioning system is working hard to keep you and your family comfortable year round. With the spring quickly approaching, there are simple low cost things you can do to ensure your HVAC system holds up to air conditioning season ahead, homeowner and professional maintenance.  Both are equally important.   As a homeowner, changing your furnace filter regularly is one of the most important things you can do. A clogged filter will make the blower motor in your furnace work much harder than it should. This can create poor air quality and circulation. Also, in more extreme instances, it will make your furnace break down and you will need to call a professional to come fix it.  Another problem a homeowner can easily prevent is related to the A/C condenser outside the home.  By keeping the coil free of debris, you can ensure that your air conditioning will run correctly.  All considered, there are reasons why professional maintenance is also required to maintain your system. HVAC professionals can access parts of your system that homeowners cannot and should not. Key components like the evaporative coil should be inspected annually and cleaned if necessary.  The refrigerant level in your system is another thing that should be checked and refilled when needed.  Would you try driving your vehicle without fuel?  The same is true in regard to your air conditioning system.  You need to have a licensed contractor check for and add refrigerant when necessary.  By completing the above stated maintenance, you can have confidence that your air conditioning will run at peak performance for this summer.  Just like anything else, neglect will lead to a system failure and, in many cases, can become very costly to the consumer.  ...read more
