Brainerd is a part of the Minneapolis and Saint Paul metro area of Minnesota. The town is known for being home to the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers of the Northwoods League and is also known for the First National Bank of Brainerd holdup by Baby Face Nelson and his gang back in 1933. Major attractions in the Brainerd Lakes area include the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area, Paul Bunyan Trail and the Northland Arboretum. Each year in the summer season, there are plenty of sports events, including athletics, water sports and plenty of outdoor recreational activities. Among the biggest companies are Ascensus , St Joseph Hospital, Wausau Paper Mill. The biggest schools here are Central Lakes College and Brainerd Senior High School. One of the best places to visit when you are in Brainerd is Paul Bunyan Land, an amusement park featuring a talking statue of Paul Bunyan with a statue of his faithful blue bull, Babe.
