About West Branch, MI
West Branch is a city in Michigan. The population of West Branch was 1,926 as of the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Ogemaw County, and is located within West Branch Township. The city was formerly known as Logan's Mills, but was renamed by lumberjacks after the "west branch" of the Rifle River. Since 2009, the West Branch Children's Film Festival has been held by the city, encouraging films to be shot in Ogemaw County. During the festival, the city offers workshops, outdoor movie screenings, and musical entertainment. The biggest schools here are Ogemaw Heights High School, and Surline Elementary School.
