The Hair Shack & More

1.0

By Sarah

I went in to get my hair trimmed a week ago and and paid $23 for the worst hair cut I have ever had. The lady took 2.5 inches off when I told her I just wanted a trim because I was trying to grow my hair out. The right side of my hair is much shorter than the left side and it is extremely choppy and ugly. She even said that it looked uneven, trimmed a little, and then made it more choppy and uneven. She did not dry it and it was snowing out, so I left with wet hair. I got home only to realize how aweful my hair looked. I will never go back and I will tell anyone and everyone to not go there. I really thought since I just wanted a "trim" I would be safe. AND THE OWNERS DAUGHTER WAS THE ONE WHO BUTCHERED MY HAIR!!! She said she had been cutting hair for 6 years....that's very unfortunate. Do NOT go here! ...read more

Salon Verve

5.0

By Barb Watson

I drove 80 miles round trip for my first hair appointment at Salon Verve in mid- March, and was not disappointed. Great salon atmosphere, exquisite natural and organic products, high-quality friendly hair designers, expert color artists, and my allergies never once bothered me. This salon rivals and easily surpasses the best salons in Ann Arbor, where I used to live. I can't believe I never went to Salon Verve before now. I will continue to get my hair colored and cut at Salon Verve and highly recommend this salon to everyone I know. My husband, who is very fussy about his long locks, is now a new customer of Salon Verve. Thank you Salon Verve for being here in NW Michigan. May your success and business continue to grow. ...read more

Sophie Face Mineral Make Up.

Flawless makeup application.  Read on for mineral makeup application tips and techniques!      Whether you have chosen to start with our Mineral Veil or the Crushed Mineral Foundation formulas, these same general application techniques apply.  Apply your chosen foundation with a brush and get lighter coverage. Use a makeup sponge or flocked sponge and the coverage will be heavier. You can achieve even heavier coverage by applying your minerals over a well-moisturized face, or create a tinted moisturizer by adding some of your foundation mix to your favorite lotion. As long as the final outcome works for you, there is no right or wrong way to apply minerals. Brushes and sponges of varying types all work. It all comes down to personal preference and how much coverage you are seeking.      That said, we do, however, recommend applying your foundation with our Delectable Kabuki Brush. These little handle-less brushes are very dense and do an excellent job of picking up and evenly distributing the crushed mineral onto the skin. You can also use a fluffy powder brush for a lighter dusting of foundation than a kabuki brush provides. With either brush type, the application process is the same:      With a flocked sponge or makeup sponge, the process is similar, but you can vary the coverage by changing the way you apply it to your face. Experiment with patting, rolling and stroking your foundation on. For a different look, try applying your foundation with a damp sponge.      You can also use a clean flocked sponge to smooth on that flawless look after applying crushed minerals with a brush. Using downward strokes minimizes the look of pores and causes those fine little facial hairs to lie down and disappear!      A taklon foundation brush, designed for applying liquid foundations, works great when applying a mix of crushed mineral foundation and serum or moisturizer. You can also apply your homemade liquid foundation with your fingertips or a sponge. Mineral Make Up is Beautiful and if you haven’t tried it yet…you simply must.   If you would like a free consult and mineral make up application Call me for a personalized appointment.                Cheer's,  Beth,  Salon West  (231) 632-1787     Flawless makeup application.  Read on for mineral makeup application tips and techniques!      Whether you have chosen to start with our Mineral Veil or the Crushed Mineral Foundation formulas, these same general application techniques apply.  Apply your chosen foundation with a brush and get lighter coverage.
