While I'm almost ashamed to acknowledge some "online" business giants, the fact remains they have found my industry and I'm sure are here to stay. However my New Year's Resolution is to educate as many as I can to BEWARE of promotional product purchases online. These companies do not have an office, or a sales force, you won't speak to them on the phone, or have them visit you to discuss your needs. They WILL however, inflate prices, by 300%, say $10.62 for a ceramic mug; then offer a 50% off SALE @ $5.31 and you think you're getting a deal. The reality is this: the exact same mug is available for $3.62 the true manufacturers suggested retail, from reputable promotional products distributors. (Actual example viewed online 1/8/2009) These online giants entering my industry is a recent development capitalizing on the internet and its reach. While it's still a free-enterprise system and we each can charge whatever we like for products / services, this type of gouging happens all too frequently through online sites and tactics,not to mention the ill-will that may be cause to anentire industry. It is not my intent to discredit any competitor, but this information is for your education. I simply don't want to see anyone taken advantage of. I do believe in shopping the web for research, and price-comparisons...and I do know there are truly great deals to be found online versus in-store prices, all I'm asking of you is to be diligent. If you find a Promotional Product online you're interested in, please find a local specialist and let them confirm that you'll be getting the "best price". If the offer is legitimate a reputable distributor should tell you so. I'm not looking to undercut and steal sales. Believe me, if they're not gouging we will have the same prices. As a promotional products specialist I want to build lasting business relationships. I want to help businesses succeed and this means spending advertising dollars wisely.
