Muskegon is the greater populated of two principal cities of and included in the Muskegon-Norton Shores metro area of Michigan. Muskegon is the largest city on the eastern shores of Lake Michigan located northwest of Grand Rapids. Muskegon is known for its the diversified economy, affordable housing and quality healthcare. Major attractions include the Cross Lake Ferry and the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Each year in the July 4th season there is the Muskegon Summer Celebration, an eleven-day festival and in September, the Michigan Irish Music Festival brings renown Celtic musicians to Heritage Landing on the shore of Muskegon Lake. Among the biggest companies in Muskegon are Alcoa-Howmet Castings, and Brunswick. The biggest schools here are Orchard View and Oakridge. One of the best places to visit when you are in Muskegon is the Great Lakes Naval Memorial and Museum.
