We had leased to own a Holwerda Home. Thank God we had the option to get out of the lease. The home was beautiful on the outside, money pit on the inside. The insulation was null, not sup par, NULL. The upstairs would stay at a cozy 50 degrees in the winter with the heat set on 70 (gas bill was 400 dollars). The bathroom fixtures froze and burst pipes in the middle of the night soaking the other 2 stories. BUYER BEWARE!!! They didn't help fix anything because they were in the middle of foreclosing on the property (without telling us) We have since bought a 15 year old home that is amazingly built. ...read more

Hi, My name is Josh Kennard and I am actually the Association President of Ghallagher Estates in Traverse City, Michigan. Fortunatly my home was not built by Holwerda, but he has completed about 15 homes in our subdivision. If you are considering one of these homes... BUYER BEWARE. These homes go up in just about a week with the cheapest materials and what seem to be very bad quality homes. One of our residents actuially have mold issues and their drywall is falling apart due to inadequate wrapping and preparation. The buyer still has a buyers warranty but Gregg Holwerda has refused to take care of their problems and Holwerda is actually in the process of being investigated by Michigans Attorney General.
