In every proposal on the board, there are five proposals today, the "public option" is highly touted by the dems. I have read more of the bills than most senators and congressman, the public option in every case is designed to wipeout the private health insurance industry. How can I say that? President Obama says "If you like your plan you can keep it" that is not a lie, but he is not telling you the whole truth. Section 102 of the bill goes on to explain that once the bill is passed if your not in a private plan prior than your only option is the Government option. For employers that hire new employees after the bill is signed, those employees will only be able to choose the government plan. If you think that is bad, then this is even better. Lets say your a small business with 8 employees on Humana health insurance, or Blue Cross or any of the others, ok the the bill passed, one year goes by and Humana sends you a rate increase, you want to shop around, right? Wrong! "If you like the plan you have you can keep it! and that is all you can do. Your only option is to stay with your current carrier or switch to the government plan. It is impossible to have free market competition with a subsidised government plan. Once the Health care industry is crushed the government will be free to hike cost or taxes or fees as they will.
