In 1978 I studied electronics at RETS electronic schools of Detroit, MI courses of studies included vacuum tube circuitry as well as solid state transistor circuits used in amplifiers and telecommunications equipment. Studies also included microprocessors, TTL logic gates and operational amps used in programmable controllers. I was hired by General Dynamics Corporation as a field installer for the Stromberg-Carlson division for their System Century digital telephone switching centers. Customers included General Telephone and several independent telephone companies throughout the Midwest. In 1981 I started my own company, Contact Comunications Company of Plymouth Michigan. The main scope of our sales was to business clientele for their telecommunications, security and electrical needs. First we had to educate our customers that they could actually own their own telephone systems as opposed to renting their equipment from AT&T.; We offered turnkey services comprising all their electrical, security and communications needs, we even offered project management of all other trades, our customers gave us the reins to manage other contractors. We gave them peace of mind. In 1996 I sold the business to Walsh Service Company of Farmington Hills, Michigan. I Relocated to Tarpon Springs, Key West and Miami, Florida to work semiretired as an electrician and personal care giver. I have since relocated back to Ann Arbor Michigan. Now the owner of Ann Arbor Amp Repair, my interests have returned to my true love of electronics and sound. Vintage HiFi systems and amplifiers. I've always been fascinated by the miracle of electronics and sound combined together, to form the expressions that influence our daily lives. I love sound and wires hence my attraction to the telephone and its wires, relays transistors and tubes that glow, lights flashing all the circuits working together. There is nothing that gives me such a great satisfaction, as taking a beautifully engineered unit, that's malfunctioning and bringing it back to life. From simple solo guitar amps, large high output amps, keyboard amps, hifi sound systems, commercial sound systems, electrical power generation equipment and lighting. I have the knowledge and experience to work on it. Through several years, as a field service technician, I've learned to spot the hidden things that hide from you, from intermittent circuits, thermal problems, swinging loop shorts, longitude line imbalance, line power hum induction isolation, RF interference, line balancing, line equalization, line transmission duplexers, multiplexors, carrier circuits, and RF transmitter/receivers.
