In July 2009, my daughter, her husband, and three children were camping for 10 days. Their campsite was one of the larger ones. My husband and I were staying at the Union Bluff for a few nights (walking distance to campground). We went to visit and the owners charged us $5.00 each to walk into the campground. There is no pool or other amenities that we would use. We were told that they have to charge anyone that comes in....for what? We visited for less than an hour and were charged $10. The owner told us that "we might use their toilet paper while we are visiting". My daughter's camper has its own bathroom and toilet paper. That was unbelievable. We are from upstate New York, butI was born in York, Maine. The attitude was rude. Never have we run into anyone that was unwelcoming in Maine, until now. Needless to say, we did not go back and felt slighted that we could not even go sit by the campfire with our grandchildren. We enjoyed visiting them much more when they camped at Dixon's. ...read more
