Went in the store and asked the owner about learning how to surf and what the best board choice for me is. She was very friendly and answered all of my questions. She spent over a 45minutes explaining all different types of boards and styles and helped me decide what I was looking for. I am from RI, and I've decided when I am ready for a nice board I will make the 3hour drive and pick out one from there because she really took the time and was really helpful(and had a really nice selection as well). The surfshop down the road from them (which I tried first), however was very unhelpful and made me feel pretty stupid for even asking questions.
