This has been the best place for me the past year+ being a member. I’ve always been a yo-yo exerciser and this has been the first time I’ve stuck with a routine for over a year. I’m 51 and have tried everything! I love the workout, the instructors, and the other members. Everyone is so encouraging and friendly and I’m getting the best exercise I’ve ever gotten! It’s a place you want to keep coming back to! Try it and you’ll love it too!! ...read more

Flirty Girl Fitness No Poles Just Fun

Now available at Metamorphosis Pilates and Fitness Studio   Be Fabulous! Get fit. Have fun.   You watch MTV and VH1. You love the moves, the music and the magic of this amazing dance style. You've thought about taking a cardio dance class but are nervous of the difficult steps and remembering all the choreography.   Well here's your chance to be a star - the Flirty Girl Fitness Booty Beat program is a cardio-dance class that is fun, effective, sexy and simple! This popular, easy-to-learn dance routines provide the perfect combination of cardio and strength training; you'll feel like you are in a music video rather than a cardio conditioning, core strengthening, booty toning, arm sculpting workout class!   It is a ton of fun while getting a total body workout. I have been amazed at how much I can sweat without doing the fast paced aerobics I used to do, without the impact and without the complicated choreography. You don't need to be terribly coordinated in this workout as there just aren't many directional changes for you to trip over your own feet like in some other new exercise dance fads right now.   Metamorphosis has also have made available a ½ and ½ class for those who don't want a whole hour of cardio. Thirty minutes of Cardio and thirty minutes of Pilates Mat work is the perfect combination for a beginner as it allows for progression and time to build stamina. It is good for those who are limited in time because you get two workouts in one hour.   Q: Is the Flirty Girl class at Metamorphosis like the DVD's they sell on television? A: No, it is not, it is a gym based workout with fun dance moves.   Q: Do the Flirty Girl classes involve Pole or Chair Dancing? A: No Poles just FUN!   Q: I am not coordinated and avoid taking group classes because I always go the wrong direction. Is this a class I can participate in? A: Yes, you can. Flirty Girl classes do not have many directional changes and is very easy to follow.   Q: Is there an age requirement like some other popular "Dance" classes? A: Like any fitness facility, participants must be 13 or older for safety. Mind body coordination and awareness is not often well developed under the age of 13. We are a family facility offering a welcoming environment to all.   ...read more

Pilates is A Total Body Workout

You've heard a lot about Pilates. Every corner has some place that advertises "Pilates". It's become as catchy as "Green" Pilates is a workout. It's a method of movement designed to make people healthier. It was created by a man named Joseph Hubertus Pilates. Mr. Pilates created about 500-600 exercises that work together to exercise the entire body and mind with the ultimate goal of a high quality of life. It's a workout that can apply to anyone, meaning that with the proper instruction it can be done by young, old, athlete, injured… any-body. It should to be a strong workout at the particular client's level that focuses on abdominal strength/core strength first along with strong concentration/mindful intent. Pilates exercises, taught in a specific order and progression, on apparatus designed to support this method, under educated instruction, creates the desired result of long, lean muscles with balanced strength, stretch and flexibility. The exercises create a healthy spine, strong immune system and increased mental capability. As a personal trainer myself I had not realized the amount of muscle imbalances I had created in my own body until I tried Pilates. I was forced to accept the knowledge that all my years in the gym environment was causing my pelvis and shoulder girdle out of alignment. I knew I would be in trouble if I did not correct them. An instructor must know the Pilates method so well in theory and in continual practice on their own body and on clients that when they teach a Pilates session they can figure out what you, the client, needs to actively do to approach achieving the ideal of a Pilates exercise. Your instructor must see every move, have an eye for detail and the skills to get the best out of every individual. Pilates apparatus is a weight bearing program which will increase bone density. It will keep your muscles challenged and strong without compression to the joints and spine or bulky muscles. You will develop the stability, strength, stretch and stamina to create a healthier more balanced body and mind. I admit I am biased about the Classical Method. I have educated myself for years and continue my personal practice weekly with a Senior Trainer to myself. I bring every bit of it back to my Studio and to my Clients. There is tremendous value in refreshing your own teaching skills, remembering what it is like being a student and the never ending variety of exercises and variations. My mind is open to these in an effort to be the best teacher I can be. ...read more
