I needed my air ducts to be cleaned because lately my allergies gone wild, so I found this guys on the web. I called them in the morning and by noon I had the technician in my house, he gave an estimate that seems fair enough and immediately started working on the ducts. Sensa Air was very professional and timely. I called around to get quotes for my central air unit that had just crashed and Sensa Air offered me the lowest price and worked around my schedule to replace my unit without a problem. I have been a tenant at the Metropolitan Building since 1997. The building is well kept and has been updated. Infestation is a serious problem - but the cause of it is rarely the result of landlord disinterest. If another tenant moves into a building with property that is infested, an entire apartment building can be effected. You get their advertisement in the mail and so you call to set an appointment. Most of them will arrive driving their personal family/work van with no logo or sign anywhere on the vehicle of the company you have made the appointment with(FIRST red flag)This mean that the company hires subcontractors who may not be trained properly or not trained to do the job. Once in your home they will start to clean the ducts but only after a few minutes they will then come to you with a line like this: "I've noticed how dirty your air ducts look, if you want I can look at your unit and determine how bad it looks" They take a look at your unit and come back with bad news. The technician will then discuss the necessary procedure and the additional cost it will take to get the job done right. Knowing that they are there on site they will be asking for excessive dollar amount. In the end your "$39 unlimited vent or the $99 whole house special" becomes a $3000+ job. When you state "oh no this is not what I was expecting today" the technician will state "let me make a phone call and check in with my office"(second red flag) Technician makes a call and speaks with their manager and ask if they can be authorized to give you a discount today. They will go back and forth between their manager and yourself with different prices with discounts offered by their manager until you come to an agreement of a price. They will give you a great 20%, that's $600 in discount, turning a $3000 job to a $2400 job. These are the tactics they use and it's how they scam you out of your hard earned money. Know that most reputable companies will charge for a full system restoration/cleaning of an HVAC system in an average-sized home may be between $1000 to $1500.
