Just called 4 the TYPICAL cost of replacing a DC jack that has loosened, a simple & common repair-not asking 4 a formal quote, just a little info to compare against other shops, who advertise run-of-the-mill jack replacement for $99-125. 1st guy said “it depends.”Anyone under the sun knows that “it depends” but there are obviously going to be certain issues that are far more common than others, thus the term “typical.” No matter how many times I said I understood that there may be some additional or unique problem, he wouldn’t tell me the MOST COMMON price-range for a DC jack whose stabilizing components have loosened. Then transferred the call, w/out telling me, to another guy who gave the same asinine & obvious response of “it depends.” Definitely gives the feeling that they’re trying to finagle people into a diagnostic and, while the foot-in-the-door technique is the oldest one in the book, it certainly leaves you with a feeling that they can’t be trusted. ...read more
