An Invitation to Visit and Learn More About BEAP

Hello Friends   If you should find yourself in the neighborhood (zipcode 21205), you are invited to visit the BEAP office. It would be a pleasure to share with you... information about the HESSO Project, a comprehensive risk counseling and services (CRCS) program provided by Black Educational AIDS Project, Inc (BEAP).  The program includes one-on-one counseling, group counseling, street outreach, referral services, support groups, and HIV/AIDS prevention education. This initiative is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease of Control and Prevention.  Many of the client-centered and community-centered services and activities provided by BEAP are unfunded. Thus, the importance of networking and working with you!   Since many individuals are infected without knowledge of their HIV status, BEAP provides free, confidential, on-site Rapid HIV Testing which gives the individual their test results in 20 minutes. The testing is available to the general public and/or community groups. BEAP provides referrals to  drug treatment centers, detoxification (detox) programs, rehabilitation centers, and/or recovery houses. This service is to help individuals in their efforts to become more productive, take less health risk, and ultimately reduce their chances of contracting HIV as a result of the high-risk behaviors associated with drug addiction.   In the on-site Resource Center, the BEAP staff and volunteers assist clients and community members in accessing the Internet, establishing emails, writing resumes, searching for jobs,  researching HIV/AIDS topics, and other Internet-based task. Presently, the Resource Center is an unfunded service and is supported through contributions/donations. During various times of  the year, the BEAP staff collects and distributes holiday food baskets, school supplies and  clothes (limited assistance) for our clients, their children, and the surrounding community.   Black Educational AIDS Project, Inc welcomes the opportunities to  establish collaborations and partnerships with community associations, churches, businesses, faith-based organizations, and other community-based HIV/AIDS organizations. Through these relationships, BEAP is able to offer additional need-oriented services to high-risk HIV/AIDS populations in the Baltimore Metropolitan Service Area.   So stop in... We usually have a pot of coffee and/or tea brewing. If you don't drink coffee nor  tea, feel free to visit anyway, meet the BEAP Team, and discuss potential colloborative projects (or activities). We are located in the The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Community Center at 901 N. Milton Avenue. The building is approximately ten blocks north of Johns Hopkins Hospital and two blocks north of Madison Street (between Eager Street and Ashland Avenue). The building  is handicap accessible. Please use the Eager Street entrance, and take the elevator to the third floor. BEAP's office is in Suite 320. ...read more
