With all of the discouraging news out of Japan it is easy to get into a state of sadness and dispair, unsure about what the future will bring. But it is often at these times that humankind's best qualities can be seen, and where love and compassion is poured onto others in time of need. Countries that usually are at odds, and individuals, put aside their differences and political agendas to help people in all parts of the world. Whether it is Haiti, Chile, New Zealand, or Japan, it seems that in these moments we realize that we are not isolated countries or separate individuals, but connected and put here on this planet to love and take care of each other. After all, we all share the same hopes, fears, joys and love for our families and friends. So, as Japan continues to recover from this unfortunate natural disaster, let us continue to send prayers, donations, and help. The most challenging part of my profession and probably the most exciting part, is explaining to people what I do exactly. When I explain that I'm a holistic Energy Therapist, who works with clients using "Chi" energy, Reiki and other holistic modalities to help heal physical and emotional problems, many people often look at me strangely while tilting their heads to one side, like a dog that's heard an inaudible dog whistle. I'm use to it by now, and I can certainly understand their confusion. For most of us brought up in a western culture, the fact that are bodies are made up and surrounded by swirling energy and electricity seems like a foreign conversation. It's like telling a fish that it lives in water.... Say whaaat ? You would have to be willing to take a leap of faith and look at life from a different perspective. I had that experience for myself three years ago, although I have always been interested in alternative health care. I have found that by using healing techniques based on energy medicine, that dramatic changes can take place with clients (emotional, physical,and peak performance) often when nothing else works. I invite you to try something new, a road less traveled, and see what happens.
