About Dover, MA
Dover, called "the Town of Friendship," is a part of the Boston metro area of Massachusetts. Dover prides itself on its peaceful, rural, residential setting, and has zoning regulations to maintain the town's open spaces. Dover was first settled in 1635, and the primary industry for many years was farming. Though the area is no longer used for agriculture, the town is still dotted by farmhouses, barns, pastureland, and stone dividing walls. Dover is located on the south bank of the Charles River, and recreation opportunities include hiking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, and birding. Dover has two elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. If you are in Dover, stop by Caryl Park to see the Caryl House, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, or try Dover Market and Catering on Springdale Avenue. Famous persons from Dover include politicians Matthew A. Reynolds and Leverett Saltonstall, and UFC fighter Kenny Florian.
