Walden Pond State Reservations

I went to Walden Pong last weekend with my family. It is a great way to spend a quiet afternoon. Parking is $5 per car and entrance is free. You can walk around the lake and just enjoy the scenary. A lot of people swim in the lake, lay out in the sun, or play frisbee, etc. There is also a trail that goes around the lake and you can jog it. You can visit a replica of Thoreau's house (basically a small hut), and there is a little bookstore right by the pond too. All in all, I recommend Walden Pond for a quiet or romantic afternoon, away from the hubbub of Boston city life. ...read more

though it can feel like a mall with the summer crowds, in the early spring and fall this place still has the magic of the thoreau book. beautiful when the leaves are changing, it's a lovely, calm, natural space. a great place to ride your bike out to, sneak off to the far side of the pond and skinnydip. to me, this IS new england. ...read more
