I purchased property and Camellia Title was the company that did the closing. I THOUGHT I was buying land that was free of leans. As it turns out, not only was the title to the land not free and clear, it had a lien on it for $101,842.82. Grant money through the Road Home program doesn't have to be paid by the grant applicant if the property is sold to someone else. I would have expected Camellia Title to make something like this crystal clear at a closing. Not a word from them about it. When I signed to buy, I assumed the obligation for the grant.
