I have been taking lessons at the Music Academy for about 2 years.I can't remember a lesson taken at the Music Academy in which I didn't learn something new and exciting.The Music Academy is not only strong in teaching to play an instrument, but very strong in music theory. I have really enjoyed the music theory part of instruction as I feel that to know and understand the why and how of how to play is as important as playing itself.I recommend the Music Academy to any and all who want to learn an instrument, and to learn it well.Tim Benson and Jim McGee are the Best!!! ...read more

As a student of Tim's who had NO guitar experience when I started classes I was a bit tenative. Tim is a very generous and capable teacher. It has been my experience that often those who possess mastery of a skill or a knowledge set have difficulty teaching novices. This is not the case with Tim. Tim is extremely patient with me. As a musician it is easy to acquire bad habits over time or not build good habits from the start. It takes longer to correct bad habits than to create one. Great singers will often get a tune up to help maintain their voice. I realize their are as many opinions on this subject as their are musicians.
