Jena is the parish seat of LaSalle Parish in the central region of Louisiana, known for its pine woods, fishing, and hunting. Jena has a semitropical climate with four full seasons, though the winters are mild, and the town motto is "a nice place to call home." Attractions include the historic downtown area of Jena, and the City Park. Each year in the winter there is a town Christmas Parade. Among the largest employers in Jena are the La Salle Parish School Board, which has it central offices in the town, and the Jutiss/Clepco Oil Company.
