i have been going to sidney for highlights for about a year now and everytime she does an AMAZING job! i always walk out extremely pleased and quit going to my hair dresser at home back in ohio because i prefer her to do it. she does a great job of making my blonde hair look more natural and i love that she suggested that i do low lights. she highlighted and low lighted my extensions that i use while i cheer football games and they blend so well. a majoirty of the blondes on the louisville cheerleading team now go to her because of how good my hair looked. I am disappointed with Fifth Ave Salon & Spa. I had a Groupon for a mani/pedi. The pedi was great. I felt so relaxed and Amber helped in making me feel that way. the mani was a little disappointing. by the next day, the paint was already chipping and 2 days later, I was ready to take the polish off my nails completely. The most shocking for me, though, was when it was time to leave. In my opinion, when you give some one a tip it is based on service and what YOU feel that person deserved. Not at Fifth Ave Salon & Spa. They tell you what your tip is. In this case $15. Now considering how much I already paid for the mani/pedi, I feel $15 is a lot of money to give for a tip. I was a patron there for 8 years. Today, at 20 minutes before closing time, they turned me away because, "they were closing." There were three employees cutting hair and only one person ahead of me. I left and had time to drive to Fantastic Sams at Bardstown and Taylorsville Rd to get a haircut, even though both shops close at 5. I wouldn't recommend Great Clips on Dutchman's Pkw. If they treat their good customers like that, then they don't need my business. I guess they have too many customers. I'm glad the economy must be recovering for them. ...read more

Chris Avery has been doing my hair ever since he was in hair school, and he has yet to disappoint. We have had my hair, short, long, red, blonde, brown, black and everything in between. He is a mind reader. I don't even have to tell him what I want done, he just makes me look amazing! I always get the most amazing compliments from my coworkers, friends, or even people on the street. I have had bad experiences at many other places and when I finally found someone who I liked she changed her pricing and it got to the point where she got a big head, started messing up, raised her prices and moved to a salon that was very inconvenient. Megan at Split Ends was recommended to me and I am very pleased. She is reasonably priced, takes time to understand what we want, and makes suggestions. The really appealing thing about J.R.'s is the variety of services offered. That's what interested me. I wanted to see if a body wrap would help smooth the skin on the back of my legs. I scheduled a wet wrap. When I arrived, the staff told me I really needed a thermal wrap. I wish I had stuck to the wet wrap. When I got home, I had what looked like red bruises where the hot pads were applied. I asked around, and for what I wanted, the wet wrap would've been more beneficial. The thermal wrap really takes lots of visits for results. Even though the staff was nice, I'm disappointed. I expected to have a nice skin soothing treatment and ended up sweating through a hot wrap. The skin on my legs looked the same. There was no lotion, etc. even afterwards so at least they were soft. I feel like the cost of the service was a waste considering I wanted improvement for a vacation 9 days later. I wish the staff would've paid more attention to what I wanted, or have been better informed about the benefits of the types of wraps they offer. ...read more
