I can never tell someone enough times that I am a “Maternity Concierge.” Most people chuckle at me as if I made it up and then they ask me “is there any money in that kind of business?” No matter how many times I’m asked or questioned I seem to always jump to defense; for two reasons- 1) They insult my profession&lifestyle and 2) I don’t do this work for the money. I do this because I once was in the shoes of a person who needed support and it was nowhere to be found.     So, what is a maternity concierge anyway? A maternity concierge is someone you’ve hired to assist you with needs during and directly following a pregnancy. I remember growing up my mother and other aunts and uncles use to take all the grandchildren over to my grannies house and we practically were raised up together. Each neighbor and family member offered advice and support. They would assist the expectant mother with everything from breastfeeding, swaddling, bathing, and preparing meals. If the baby was sick, they provided a break for the mother to rest.    Well, times have changed! We no longer live in a time where we can drop off children to grandparents and it is a fact that most people don’t even know their neighbor’s names. Many of us live in different cities than our immediate family and we may live 20-45 minutes from our best friends and fellow moms. This is when we realize that the party has come to an end, the baby is born, husband returns to work, family goes home and…mom thinks, “Ahhh!
