About Mcpherson, KS
McPherson, which was named after Civil War Union General James Birdseye McPherson, is city in and the county seat of McPherson County, Kansas. Six of the thirteen total members of the first basketball team to represent the U.S. at the Olympics were from McPherson. Major industries located in the city have included an oil refinery, an insurance company headquarters and a large flour mill. Oklahoma City Bomber Terry Nichols bought the chemicals he would later use for the bombing in McPherson. Major attractions in the city include Lakeside Park, the McPherson Museum and the McPherson Water Park. Students living here attend the McPherson USD 418. McPherson College and the Central Christian College are both also located within the city.
