tomorrow is my youngest sons 24th birthday. He was born at coffeyvilles hospital, so long ago! and every year of course, i think of that hospital stay.. it was one of the better hospital experiances i ever had. all the people were very nice, the way you would expect people who work taking care of sick people would be. and the labor and all that wasnt perfect of course, but very comforted and assisted in ways that were just so very personal and showed, as a whole community, what kind of people lived inand around coffeyville. things like extra pillows and back and foot rubs and someone with a tape player who put on the sounds of the ocean or rainstorms or something like that. and on the last evening before the checkout day i would be taking my new baby home, never to see any of them again, they set up a little dining room type setting for me and also for my husband, for a quiet little personal dinner they provided for the new parents, making sure to include him as part of the importance of it,, . it was the only time, in four children of experiencing such a considerate and thoughtful staff show of love for the new parents that they saw for three days,, (it was still three days at that tiime!) one couple and their new baby at a time, and i will never forget how thoughtful and way beyond anything they, and the hospital as a whole, of course, ever would have been expected of doing, let alone just because they wanted to... i was so surprised and i still have the little name card, and mostly burned candle that was on the table... i dont know if they still do such silly little thiings but i sure hope they never stopped... it was such a special thing to do for me, and also for my (ex) husband on the birth of our youngest child.... happy birthday aaron..... luv to all of you... and thankyou to coffeyville's hospital for doing such a wonderful and special thing for me. ...read more

At this chapter there is a problem of Red Cross vehicles being used for personal use 24/7. That means anyone making a donation is paying for the tags, insurance, wear & tear & such. The money is for people in need not for this man to transport his Basketball team & other personal use. ...read more

I was a voluntary check-in on the psyciatric unit due to stress. The morning after I got there I was threatened by a nurse named Yvette. She stormed into my room and told I had to go to group therapy. When I try to explain to her about my physical condition and that I was in so much pain without my normal medication that I couldn't even move, she started screaming and cursing at me, and then threatened me. I was not only appalled by her behavior, I was actually afraid of just how far this woman might go if I didn't comply. So with tears streaming down my face from fear and the agonizing pain I was in, I slowly made my way to the group session. I do not know if this woman still works in this facility, but if she does, I beg of you, Do Not go to this place. This woman may very well be dangerous. Every patient I spoke with during my stay had similar horror stories concerning this nurse. I pray every night and every day that she is no longer working at this hospital nor anywhere in the medical field. There is no telling what she is capable of doing to a patient whether provoked or not. I know I certainly didn't do anything to deserve such abominable treatment. I will never go to this hospital for anything ever again. I passed this hospital once since then and was nearly inconsolable from the memory. My brother, who has a similar physical condition, checked himself in just a few weeks after my stay. The exact same nurse did exactly the same thing to him. He was ready to beat the life out of her, but instead went straight to the patient phone, called his wife, and made the biggest scene he could until they allowed him to check out. ...read more
