"Before Pathway, our family was totally out of control and unmanageable. We felt like we were losing our son. He had become withdrawn from the family and was using drugs on a daily basis. He got to the point where all he could think of was his next high. He got two underage consumption charges and a DUI in 3 months and that wasn't enough to make him stop. The drugs had taken over his life. We are so grateful that we found Pathway Family Center. This program saved our son and our family. This program helped our son stop using drugs and understand his disease. He now has the tools to use for the rest of his life. He also has a network of other Pathway graduates for support. Our son has thanked us so many times for putting him in this program. We thank God that we found this program and it really works." Charissa S. ...read more

Less than 1 star! Lies and Money that is what Pathway is. That is ALL Pathway is about! $66,000 for 6 or 11 month program? Yes, we need to help our children when they have gotten off track. This program removes a child from their environment to put them back on a new track, but they replace it with NOTHING if you live outside Indy! No aftercare or outpatient treatment. Over night home hosting by untrained parents with alarms and locks that violate fire safety guidelines. The children lack school while in the program, Something that a parent would be arrested for..They advertise and promise education for your child in this program. You can't see the treatment program in action. No one is allowed in and the children are not allowed to share concerns with anyone other than the staff. The peer (graduates of the program) staff is running group sessions and parents are billed for the session...This is not legal! Just one of many lies & lack of appropriate treatment. Ask Many ??s ...read more

Ambien is Addictive Too

It’s not unusual for people to have trouble falling asleep. The stresses of daily life are without a doubt enough to keep someone tossing and turning into the early hours of the morning. In our increasingly medicated world, it’s no surprise that pharmaceutical companies have developed sleep aids for those who have trouble falling asleep on their own. A drug called Ambien first came on the market a few years ago and it became immediately popular with people who couldn’t sleep. Ambien was popular because it usually started working within fifteen minutes of taking the pill so people would fall asleep fast and be able to stay asleep for a full seven or eight hours. Ambien is a powerful drug however, and the side effects can be scary. Users report dizziness, nausea and hallucinations when they try to stay awake after taking an Ambien. Another side effect that’s even scarier is the reports of sleepwalking among users. Some people reported having no memory of walking around their house, making a sandwich and even going for a drive.Ambien has a very, very high risk of dependency, partly because it works so well. Users find that they sleep so amazingly well while taking Ambien, that when they don’t take it, falling asleep becomes downright impossible. Along with a dependence, users also report developing a tolerance the longer they took Ambien. Most had to continually up their dosage as time went on because they were no longer feeling the effects like they used to. Not only can users who stop taking Ambien experience trouble sleeping, but there can also be other side effects which are even worse. Some include depression, panic attacks, uncontrollable shaking, memory loss and dysphoria. The withdrawal symptoms of an Ambien detox can last for only a few hour or even a few days depending on the person and how long they took the drug for. Every person is unique, so that makes every detox experience unique. After detoxing from Ambien, it’s helpful to talk to trained addiction treatment professionals like those at the Christian Detox Helpline in Indianapolis, IN. It’s great to reach sobriety, but the biggest concern is maintaining a drug free lifestyle once you’ve left the treatment center. Speaking with a counselor or therapist about the underlying causes of Ambien addiction can help shed some light on why someone became addicted in the first place. Factors like stress are the most common when it comes to the inability to sleep, so many counselors will help devise a program to reduce stress in someone’s life. This can help them get to sleep the way nature intended. ...read more

The Dangers of Moonshine

If you watch the Discovery Channel then you’ve probably seen a show called “Moonshiners.” The series, which began its first season in 2011, follows around illegal moonshine distillers in the Appalachian Mountains. What makes the show appealing is not the colorful cast of characters in overalls, but the fact that the alcohol these guys produce is some of the most powerful stuff on the plant. The Discovery Channel needs to subtitle most of the show as the characters use their unique vernacular to explain the process of creating illegal liquor that can reach strengths of 160 proof. In comparison, the average bottle of liquor produced commercially is only around 80 proof. Viewers often seen the distillers taking long swigs of their product from bell jars as they pay homage to their ancestors who made a living moonshining during the prohibition era. The issue is that moonshine is incredibly dangerous in more ways than one. There are numerous health risks involved in not only drinking the stuff, but also making it.The process of making moonshine is fairly complex and to get it wrong can be disastrous. One of the major health concerns with moonshine is the prevalence of lead in toxic levels. Since backwoods stills are generally made from spare parts such as car radiators, then contaminates enter the batch without the distiller knowing. One of the most common ways to test moonshine is to light it on fire. Any substance over 50% alcohol will be flammable and you can use the flame color to tell a lot about your brew. An alcohol that burns with a blue flame contains a lot of ethanol, the primary ingredient in alcoholic drinks. A yellow flame indicates low levels of contaminates, while a red flame indicates that the mixture contains a significant amount of lead. All moonshine is alcoholic enough to light on fire.Since moonshine is highly combustible, it should come as no surprise that making a mistake could blow the whole still sky high. There are hundreds of stories of moonshiners doing one thing wrong and subsequently blowing themselves into oblivion. Even correctly made moonshine can still have a high level of methanol, a toxic substance which distills at a lower temperature than ethanol. Methanol can cause death and is the reason why people going blind became associated with moonshine use.Alcohol addiction is a serious problem in the United States but it can be controlled. Like moonshiners, the life of an alcoholic is entirely intertwined with booze. If you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse issues, call theDrug Treatment Helpline in Indianapolis, INas soon as possible. What Drugs are Addictive?

One of the most serious problems facing America today is drug and alcohol addiction. It’s no secret that drugs are destroying the lives of people all across this country. Regardless of race, age or class, drug abuse is rampant and must be stopped in order to help people live lives of consequence. Combating drug and alcohol use is very difficult for a number of reasons, but one of which is the huge amount of false information being disseminated to the general public. It’s not wise to believe everything you hear, especially when it comes to information about dangerous and addictive drugs. Now if this information was coming from a physician or drug treatment counselor then obviously the information is probably true. The problem is many people learn about drugs and alcohol from their peers who are not always the most informed. Many people are unaware of how dangerous and addictive a drug may be before they try it. Here are a few facts about the most addictive drugs out there today. It used to be drugs were sold exclusively on the black market. They still are today, but now there is a new marketplace for dangerous and addictive drugs. Pharmaceuticals such as painkillers and anti-anxiety medications are quickly becoming the most used drugs in the country. Painkillers such as Oxycodone and Vicodin both give powerful highs and carry a huge risk for dependency and overdosing. Doctors are prescribing these hazardous pills at an alarming rate and as a result the number of prescription drug overdoses are through the roof in recent years. Medications such as Valium or Xanax carry similar risks when it comes to dependency and overdosing. One very dangerous drug which you’ve probably heard of is cocaine. Long known for its status as an elitist drug of the upper class, cocaine has a storied history in the United States which began in the 1980’s. Cocaine has a direct effect on the dopamine receptors in the brain, acting as a stimulant. The high from cocaine is only about a half hour long, so users need to continually use the drug to maintain the high. This means that it’s easy to develop an addiction as well as overdose. Quitting cocaine is very difficult to do, particularly if you’ve been using regularly for an extended period of time. Many people don’t consider alcohol a drug, but it is one of the most addictive substances there is. Since so many people use alcohol, it can be really hard to tell if you or someone you know has developed an addiction to it. Even if that person does recognize they have a problem, then what? Well, calling the Alcohol Rehab Helpline in Indianapolis, IN is a great start.
