I recently had occasion to drive by what used to be Allison plant 5. I was shocked at the sight of the plant and lack of cars in the parking lot. This in it's self should tell the people that are lucky to have a job that they should never again vote for a republican much less one like Cruz or Rubio. I know however that we are our own worst enemy and don't always do what is right for ourselves. This was very clear as I also seen the amount of un-American cars and trucks in the lot. Shame on the American people sending their hard earned money to foreign countries. No wonder the wages are so low we do it to ourselves. ...read more

I retired from Rolls-Royce on August 1, 2005 Until now I have had adequate support from my local union. Now I need some answers. Early this week I received a letter and pamphlet from Extend Health informing me that I should have received a letter from Rolls-Royce on changes to my health coverage. I don't recall ever receiving any such letter. Extend Health says that "as of December 31, 2013 (my) coverage under the Rolls-Royce group plan will end and (I) will need to select new insurance or risk going without coverage." First question: Is this for real??? Are retirees really going to lose their health care benefit? Second Question: Are we now going to have to pay the premiums for our supplemental coverage? I am also getting emails from Cobra. Please help me get some information ...read more

When you buy a home its the greatest thing in the world. my husband is a current employee of Rolls Royce NA. He isn't a lazy man, he does his job and pays his Union Dues. This year RRNA switched to a different health savings accound and we we have had nothing but a run around about when we can use this card, it's activated but with no money in the account deposited from RR it is useless. The Local Union 933 is now giving me the run around, take our money but provide no help. All I keep getting is the run around from everyone and just want the truth. This is supose to be part of our benefits package but somehow now two years in a row with two different companies we are having the same issue, the monies haven't been deposited by RRNA and our union reps are never available. Why are we paying union dues if the union can't or won't help us? ...read more

Better Business Bureau

I had always thought the BBB existed to protect me if I had been scammed. I now believe it is just the opposite. I had a problem with a auto repair outfit in Castleton. I had spent $800 and 2 weeks and my car still was not repair. I took it to a dealership and in one day and $700, it was repaired. I took the business to BBB court process. Even though I had a statement from the dealership stating that what was replaced by the previous auto repair outfit had nothing to do with repairing the vehicle, I lost BBB court decision. I even stated in this 'court' that the business was in his terms, SWAG'ing it. He was just replacing parts and if it worked great, if not, replace another part. The owner did agree that he had made this statement. \t\n\t\nBBB gets money from the businesses not the customers. That is why I lost.\t\n\t\nThe BBB makes you sign a document that once a complaint is heard in their 'court', you can not go to Small Claims court. This is not true or legally binding. The success rate for a customer in their 'court' is very low because, once again, it is not the customer that gives BBB their money, it is the businesses that send them money and get that fancy wall hanging.\t\n\t\nI had thought that if I see a BBB certificate at a business, I was safe in doing business with company. Now, when I see a company BBB's certificate stating proudly and strongly that they are a BBB member, I wonder what they are hiding. ...read more

My husband retired from Allison Transmissions 2004. Now mind you we have been married around 30 years. GM benefits decided that 2 months out of the 30 years of marriage I didn't have medical coverage. Would you know it would be the only time I have been hospitalized and had surgery. 30,000 dollars that I am suppose to have in our pocket as a " retiree " and don't have. I have been turned over to a collection agency. Do you think that the benefits is trying to help me on this. I even sent a letter of appeal. To this day no answer. Does anybody know what next I should do ? Have you had the same problem ? Is it time to hire a lawyer ? Or should I call a television station to ruffle some feathers ? Please give me feed back before I am bankrupted ! ...read more

On Thursday, September 17th, I attempted to deliver new and gently used toys for the annual Needy Christmas Fund. I was given the run-a-round and eventually left. I am the wife of a UAW worker as well as the daughter of a GM retiree. I have been volunteering w/UAW for 15+ years delivering food & gifts at Christmastime. I was very upset at the laziness of the office workers. My husband told me he would deliver the toys for me and he would leave them in the lobby if no help was to be found. I wouldn't be so upset if the main building or shelter house was located near our home, or if the office workers were busy, which they were not, could of fould someone to assist me. ...read more
