Yang Health Center, Chinese Acupuncture

I highly recommend Dr. Yang and the use of acupuncture to treat fertility issues. I conceived my first child quickly, without intervention; he went to term and is now a healthy 2 year old. When we tried to get pregnant again it took 5 months, and that pregnancy ended in miscarriage after 8 weeks. After the miscarriage, I diligently charted my waking temperatures and cervical fluid. I found that although my husband and I were timing intercourse correctly, my luteal phase (the time between ovulation and the start of the next period) was too short to allow a fertilized egg to implant. Personally, I did not want to go down the "fertility treatment" path, so I tried acupuncture. Dr. Yang has a wonderful, calming bedside manner. She looks at whole-body wellness while focusing on the individual's issues. To help me, she gave me a one hour acupuncture session every week, combined with herbal pills and patches for when I am at home. She also gave me advice on how to "warm up" my reproductive area by what I drink. (She calls the things you do out of the acupuncture office "homework.") From the beginning she tried to set the correct expectation that it may take 2 or 3 months for my body to change, but within my first month of treatment I was pregnant! Including our time prior to the miscarriage, we had been trying for about 10 months. I am still seeing Dr. Yang monthly while in my first trimester (and possibly beyond) to try to keep everything balanced for the baby ...read more

After only one session with Dr. Yang I noticed dramatic results. I have been taking prescription medication for 8 months to sleep at night. After one acupuncture session with Dr. Yang, I started to sleep my first nights of natural sleep without medication! Now after 3 session, I am happy to say that I don't need my medication to sleep at all. I have suffered from depression, and also noticed that after my first session my mood was elevated, I felt relaxed and calm, very content and happy! After 3 sessions, I am noticing an overall sense of well being and relaxation in daily life. The staff are caring and the treatment really works! After years of acupuncture treatment in other countries, I notice that Dr. Yang is one of the best. ...read more

Oral Cancer Screening Can Be Life Saving

This month take a moment to assess youoral cancer riskand make sure you have a routine dental appointment scheduled withDr. Amy Markese-Braun, which includes an oral cancer screening. Oral cancer continues to be a growing health risk for several reasons: the increasing prevalence of the HPV-16 virus and lagging rates of screening despite the fact that an oral cancer screening is both inexpensive and painless. Located in Indianapolis, IN, Dr. Markese-Braun performs an oral cancer screening as part ofpreventive dental careto look for the early warning signs of oral cancer. The Oral Cancer Foundation expects that over 45,000 new diagnoses will occur this year, an increase over 2014 numbers and a continuation in rising oral cancer rates. Understanding the possible signs of oral cancer can lead to an early diagnosis, but in many cases they can go unnoticed until a thorough examination by Dr. Markese-Braun reveals subtle changes in the soft tissues of the mouth which can signal possible cancerous growth. Common signs of oral cancer Sore or red/white patch in the mouth that does not heal Persistent hoarseness Lump in the back of the mouth or neck area Difficulty swallowing Spotting oral cancer in the early stages is extremely important because late stage disease is often very difficult to treat and cure. The survival rate for oral cancer has been hovering around 50% largely due to the high percentage of late stage cases because of the overall lack of screening. Be a part of the solution- and reduce your risk of being diagnosed with a late stage disease. Be sure to visit Dr. Markese-Braun in Indianapolis twice a year for preventive dental care and a screening for the signs of oral cancer. Dr. Markese-Braun can also discuss the risk factors associated with oral cancer with you if you have concerns based on your health history or lifestyle habits. Oral cancer risk factors Smoking or tobacco use Race and ethnicity: more prevalent among the black population Exposure to HPV virus through lifestyle habits Oral cancer screening is just another great reason to be sure that you visit our Indianapolis dentist office twice a year. Preventive dental care not only supports a good quality of life, but may be life saving! ...read more

Private Indiana Health Insurance Plans - Compare Rates

Private Indiana health insurance is very affordable. Both individual and family medical coverage can be purchased at prices that easily fit within your budget. If you aren't covered under an employer-sponsored plan, you may be able to save money by purchasing a personal policy. Anthem Blue Cross, UnitedHealthcare and MDWise are three of the largest providers of benefits in Indiana. Comprehensive policies are the most popular since they provide unlimited office visits and specialist visits that are subject to just a small copay. Prescriptions are also included, both generic and name brand. And of course all preventive expenses are paid in full by the insurer, thanks to the Affordable Care Act legislation. It's easy to apply for a policy online through a top-rated website. One of the top trusted resources for purchasing coverage is available here. Indianainsurancehealth.com is a premier resource for providing the most affordable quality options at the lowest published rates. We have 35 years of experience helping Hoosier residents wit their medical coverage. If you are on a tight budget, there are many low cost options to choose from. One of the more popular plans are the Bronze-tier options. Typically, prices are among the lowest available for Marketplace coverage. Office visit and RX benefits are offered along with complete preventive services. Major hospital claims, ER visits etc... are included with many deductible and coinsurance options. For maximum savings, you can elect a higher deductible (perhaps $6,850) and a 30% coinsurance. The savings will be significant but the quality of the policy will not be impacted. Riders for dental and vision can be added. Since they are not part of any mandated coverages, they also can be deleted at any time. ...read more
