The town of Hanover, named for Hanover Church, which was named for Hanover, New Hampshire, is located in Jefferson County, Indiana, in the Madison metro area. Major attractions within minutes of Hanover include the Jefferson County Historical Society Museum, where you can learn about regional history and the Lanier Mansion State Historic Site, the Greek Revival home of millionaire, J.F.D. Lanier. The biggest school here is Hanover College, a premier, private, liberal arts undergraduate college.
