Penny was able to see us in less than 24 hours, and quickly helped us to recognize our specific issues and create a pro-active plan to address them. Penny was professional and made us feel at ease immediately. She was direct, but also very compassionate and non-judgmental. It was easy to schedule additional appointments, and she made herself available between sessions as well. We liked the goals & homework structure, and feel we were able to make exceptional progress. Still work to be done, but are aware of the support we need to do it. Thank You. ...read more

Deciding On Counseling

By visiting this site, you are probably already aware that something is bothering you. There might be personal issues you want to change; like anxiety, depression, or loneliness.  Things  that you haven't resolved on your own.  Maybe there are things you do want; such as a new career, more self-understanding, and better relationships.  Personal goals that you haven't yet realized in your life.  If these are true, and you have the desire to change, you are ready for counseling. In counseling I assist you in understanding what is going on now, why that is, and then help you to make changes to support your goal. The changes are in you - your thoughts, beliefs, choices and actions.  We can and will talk about others in relationship to you,  but the only real leverage you have is in yourself.  I may challenge you on your beliefs about your own or limitations or boundaries.  I know each person has the potential for a rich, fulfilling life, and we all need some help at different points in our lives.Whether you are from a "happy" family or not, a "dysfunctional" family or not, each of us grows up with strengths, weaknesses, and coping strategies for getting through life.  As we face diverse challenges and opportunities as an adult, it's a great time to re-balance those skills.I use a variety of approaches in both individual and couples counseling.  My core philosophy is rooted in family systems theory, and I also use Cognitive-Behavioral, Psychoeducational and Solution-Focused therapies in my work.   I welcome your phone call or email. Without obligation, we can discuss any questions or concerns you may have.  You can start feeling better now--I look forward to hearing from you!At Lotus Group... we see potential.  We offer a professional and comfortable environment which is fully staffed weekdays from 8 am to 8 pm. for calls, scheduling, and questions.  Some Saturday appointments are also available.   New clients are often seen within 24-48 hours of their initial call.  Contact me 317-595-5555 orpdollens-smith@lotusgroup.biz ...read more
