Derby is an unincorporated community in Union Township, Perry County, Indiana. Derby lies along the Ohio River. During the 19the century, the river was the southern boundary of the Northwest Territory, and served as the border between free and slave territory. The Ohio River is sometimes referred to as the Mason-Dixon Line. It was the unofficial line between the borders of the Northern United States and the Upper South.
