About Brownstown, IN
The town of Brownstown, named for Gen. Jacob Jennings Brown, is located in Jackson County, Indiana, in the Seymour metro area. A major attraction within minutes of Brownstown is the Stevens Memorial Museum, which was designed to preserve the heritage of Washington County, Indiana, and contains dozens of exhibits representing thousands of artifacts. Each year in September, the Melonfest, a two-day celebration of the harvest of watermelons, is held here. One of the best places to visit when you are in Brownstown is the nearby, Brown County State Park, Indiana's largest state park and with camping, trails, fishing, horseback riding, picnic areas, swimming and tennis.
