About Rockwood, IL
Rockville is a village of 41 people located in Randolph County, Illinois. It is best known as being the headquarters for the Middle Mississippi River National Wildlife Refuge. This refuge is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and was created as a result of the Great Flood of 1993. Dikes were breached during this flood and the Fish and Wildlife Service is working to get these back up to semi-natural bottomlands.
